The City of Ryde has a bit of everything: 1950s to 1970s brick homes in Ryde, West Ryde and Eastwood, waterside houses in Putney and Gladesville, new apartment towers in Meadowbank and Shepherds Bay, and the office parks of Macquarie Park. We paint all of them, and the right preparation depends on what the building is made of and when it was built.
What we paint in Ryde
- House interiors: walls, ceilings, doors, skirting and window frames, room by room or the whole house
- House exteriors: face brick, painted brick, render, fibro and weatherboard, plus eaves, fascia, gutters and fences
- Apartments: repaints between tenants, before sale or after renovation
- Commercial: offices, warehouses and retail in Macquarie Park, North Ryde and Top Ryde, scheduled after hours where needed
What Ryde homes need
Post-war brick and render
Many Ryde homes have face brick that was later painted, or render that has gone chalky. Chalky surfaces are washed and sealed so new paint bonds instead of peeling. Cracks in render are filled and primed first.
Fibro and asbestos
Fibro sheeting is common on older homes and extensions. Sheeting from before about 1990 may contain asbestos, so it’s never sanded or pressure washed. It’s hand-cleaned, sealed and painted with a suitable exterior acrylic.
New apartments
Newer units in Meadowbank, Rhodes and Macquarie Park are quick to paint, but building rules on lifts, working hours and common-area protection still apply. We work within the strata by-laws.
Lead paint
Homes built before 1970 may have lead in older paint layers. We test before sanding and use lead-safe preparation where it’s found.
Typical prices
Most Ryde homes fall in the middle of the Sydney ranges. See our exterior painting cost guide, interior painting cost guide and apartment painting cost guide, or try the painting cost calculator for a quick range.

GOOD TO KNOW
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to paint a house in Ryde?
A single-storey, three-bedroom brick home usually costs $6,000 to $9,500 to paint outside and $5,000 to $9,000 inside. Brick and render homes are quicker to paint than weatherboard, so many Ryde homes sit in the middle of the Sydney range.
Can you paint over fibro?
Yes, but fibro on homes built before about 1990 may contain asbestos, so it's never sanded or pressure washed. It's cleaned by hand, any damaged sheets are assessed first, and it's sealed and painted with a suitable exterior acrylic.
Do you paint offices in Macquarie Park?
Yes. Office and commercial work can be scheduled after hours or on weekends so teams can keep working. See our commercial painting page for how those projects are run.
