PAINTING, WITH CARE

Sydney painters who take the prep seriously.

Most paint jobs that fail in Sydney don’t fail because of the paint. They fail because the surface underneath wasn’t ready for it. Chalky render that never got sealed. A bathroom ceiling painted over live mould. Gloss trim recoated without a sand, so the new paint peels off in strips a year later.

We’ve been painting Sydney homes and businesses since 2018, and the work you can’t see in the final photo is the work we spend the most time on.

HOW A JOB RUNS

Five steps, no surprises.

  1. 01

    Site visit and written quote

We look at the condition of the surfaces, not just their size. The quote lists every room or wall, the preparation included, the paint product and the number of coats.

  2. 02

    Protection

Floors, furniture, benchtops, gardens and paving are covered before any sanding or scraping starts.

  3. 03

    Preparation

Washing, scraping, sanding, filling and spot-priming. On homes built before 1970, old paint is tested for lead before anything is sanded.

  4. 04

    Painting

A primer or sealer wherever the surface needs one, followed by two topcoats as standard.

  5. 05

    Walkthrough

We go over the finished work with you before packing up, so touch-ups happen while the team is still on site.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions Sydney homeowners ask us

How much do house painters cost in Sydney?

Most Sydney painters price by the job, not the hour. As a rough 2026 guide, a two-bedroom apartment interior is about $2,800 to $5,000, a full three-bedroom house interior runs around $5,000 to $9,000, and a single-storey three-bedroom exterior is usually $6,000 to $9,500. See our interior and exterior painting cost guides for the full breakdown. Surface condition, access, colour changes and the amount of trim move the price more than floor area does.

How long does it take to paint a house?

A single room is usually one to two days. A full apartment is often three to five days, and a whole house interior or exterior can take one to two weeks. Exterior work also depends on the weather, because paint shouldn't go on before rain or onto wet surfaces.

When is the best time of year to paint a house exterior in Sydney?

Spring and autumn are the easiest. Summer works if the walls are painted out of direct afternoon sun, since paint that dries too fast can lap and blister. Winter is fine on mild, dry days, but most exterior acrylics shouldn't be applied below about 10°C or when dew will settle on the wet film.

Which paint brand do you use?

Mostly Dulux. The product range is chosen to suit the surface, for example an exterior acrylic built for UV and weather on outside walls, a washable low-sheen on busy interior walls, and enamel on doors and trims. The exact product and number of coats are written into your quote.

Do I need to move my furniture before the painters arrive?

Clear small items, valuables and anything fragile. Larger furniture can be moved to the centre of the room and covered. Floors, benchtops and fixtures are protected before any preparation starts.

Do you paint strata and commercial buildings?

Yes. We paint common areas, apartment buildings, offices and shopfronts, and can schedule the work around residents, tenants and trading hours. See our commercial and strata painting page for how those projects are run.
